Ambient Architecture helped reinvent this downtown Bend building by opening up the front with windows to showcase the retail space.

Before the remodel, wheelchair users couldn’t access the building and small windows reduced retail potential of the space.
Location: Bend, Oregon
Owners: Todd and Roberta Johnson
Size: 3,000 square feet
Contractor: Russell Anderson Design and Construction
Completion date: April 2012
Summary: Ambient Architecture remodeled the 1960s’-era 1002 NW Bond Street as the new home of SportsVision, an established eye-wear retailer in Central Oregon. We worked to maintain and accentuate the building’s original modernist features, including lava rock walls, deep roof overhangs and natural-lighting conditions. Improvements included new glazing (windows); code-required upgrades (including accessibility); a new heating system; and improved retail exposure for walk-by traffic.
